DONIPHAN: In the southeastern part of Hall County on the St. J. & G. I. division of the U. P. Ry. It is 15 miles south of Grand Island, the county seat, and has a population of 400. The farming lands in the adjacent country are excellent. The bank of Doniphan occupies a good brick structure and does a safe financial business with a capital of $25,000 The educational advantages of the town are good. The school building was erected at a cost of $4,500. The Central House and Paleys Hotel are the chief hostelries of the town. The "Leader" supplies the latest news. A brick yard and an elevator also add to the business of the town. The churches are the Evangelical, the M. E. and the Congregational.
