Paul and Connie Ludwig transcribed the "Soldiers' and Sailors' Home Cemetery" in Grand Island, which is now known as the "Veterans Memorial Cemetery." There are plans to designate it a National Cemetery. The cemetery is located at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Webb Road in Grand Island, about a half mile west of the United Veterans Home. Any resident of the "Home" is eligible to be buried in the cemetery.
    There is sometimes more information from the headstones at the cemetery than is listed here. Connie has graciously offered to send anyone the additional information if you drop her a note at lulu@nctc.net. NOTE:Because of the new HIPAA Records Policy, The Nebraska Veterans Home can no longer research and send records of those who were residents of the Home. Plans are in the works to make the information avialable in the future.

    There are many Civil War Veterans buried at this cemetery, along with Spanish American, WWI, WWII, and Korea. There are also many wife's of veterans buried here.
    As with all the cemetery transcriptions Paul and Connie have done for Hall County, please take a minute or two to write and thank them for their hard work and dedication in bringing so much "FREE" information to us all.
